Performance Matters is a interesting new project happening in London, and they are putting quite a bit of research on their website for everyone’s enrichment.  Participating artists/writers include: Augusto Corrieri, Adrian Heathfield, Tim Etchells, Gavin Butt, Lois Keidan, Owen Parry, and many others.

“Performance Matters
is a creative research project exploring the challenges that contemporary performance presents to ideas of cultural value. The project asks whether such forms of cultural practice are now being taken seriously in culture more broadly, and how they may possess the potential to refashion understandings of what, and how, things matter in the contemporary world.”

Dear Elena, Stella and Antje,

TASK #1:  From the video (either of the Berlin performance or the Laban performance) learn the movement from the Geometry/Geography (section 3) interview section.  A la choreographer Lee Anderson, try to learn the timing, movement, gestures and positioning with as much accuracy as possible.  Stella: learn Antje’s part, Elena: learn Stella’s part, Antje: learn my (Michelle’s) part.  After learning your assigned choreography, perform it in whatever venue you see fit.  Video the performance and post it online.

Thanks,
Michelle K. Lynch (Director)
